FLAGNEWS- OBI OF OWA PLAYS HOST TO AZINGE FOR SCHOOL OF NURSING ACCREDITATION

The Obi of Owa kingdom in Ika North East local government area,  and chairman, Delta state council of traditional rulers, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor the second, has stressed the importance of availabilty of qualified doctors and nurses in the hospitals.
 The monarch was speaking when he played host to the officials of the Delta state ministry of Health led by the commissioner in the ministry, Dr. Nicholas Azinge in his palace at Owa Oyibu in Ika North East Local Government Area.

  The Obi said the government and all relevant authorities should give priority attention to medical practitioners who will in turn administer quality health care services to patients.
He posited that if qualified medical practitioners are available in large numbers, there would be low mortality rate and quality health care services would be guaranteed.
 Earlier, the health commissioner stated that the purpose of the visit was to intimate the manarch of the forthcoming Accreditation of the state school of nursing Agbor, by the Nurses and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

 Dr. Azinge observed that a lot of works were ongoing at the state school of nursing preparatory to the council's accreditation of the school. He noted that the school had not been allotted a good quota system for admition of students into the state school of nursing Agbor due to the lack of facilities and other circumstances.
 The health commissioner also disclosed that the school had built a hostel facility to accommodate about 200 students including other necessities. He said the school had always been given a quota of 30 students to be admitted yearly out of about 1000 students that sit for the examinations.
He further observed that with the level of preparedness of the school and the upgrading of facilities, the quota would increase to a more reasonable number after the accredition. He pleaded with the monarch to assist the government and the people through his good offices to ensure that the goal was achieved.
 Speaking earlier, the Ika south council chairman Hon. Fred Ofume who accompanied the health commissioner to the palace, lauded the monarch for his oratory prowess and expressed confidence that with him in the picture, success was guaranteed.

Ofume noted that alot of work had been done in the school, to facilitate the accreditation and also pleaded with the Obi for his continuous support.
The monarch who gave the officials a warm reception with his council of chiefs, expressed delight for the purpose of the visit and assured them that he would give his maximum support in any way it would be needed.

  Other Officials who accompanied the Commissioner in the visit included the functioning permanent secretary in the Health ministry, Dr. Charles Ofili, the Principal of the state school of nursing Agbor, Mrs. Tessy Onwuka, among others.others
