The membrs of the Ika Youth Assembly IYA, under the leadership of Mr. Chibuzor Aliogo has stated that the Ika Youth Assembly was set to organize a one day summit with the theme "Youth Leadership Understanding Summit".
Aliogo stated this in Agbor, while briefing the press on the significance of the IYA, its structure and the forthcoming summit.
He said the IYA was a non political organization seeking the involvement of the youth in politics and policies of good governance, community development and sustainable future where no one would be left behind.
The convener also remarked that the IYA Summit would explore topical issues and profer solutions for sustainable development in the socio/economic and environmental dimensions as well as the marginalisation of various communities.
Aliogo also disclosed that the IYA was a unique platform to foster dialogue and generate partnership between exceptional youth, civil society, the private sector and government.
" In line with our vision which states that things go faster when you do them as a Team, together we shall build the needed team to change youths mindset all over our communities and together we can" he said.
He also added " this maiden edition of the IYA summit with the theme The Role of Youth in Politics, Good Governance and the Impact of Elected office Holders in Community Development, will take place on Saturday 30th, September 2017 at the state school of nursing Hall, Agbor by 9.00A.M."
Aliogo further stated that the summit would feature guests who would intimate the youths on the part to go in clamouring for youth development in politics and the Not too Young to Run mantra.
While stressing that the IYA was not a brain child of any political office holder or aspirant, Aliogo said " I wish to let you all know that this IYA is an uprising group that has the potentials to advocate for the people of Ika nation and we are not compromised or influenced by anyone as we are just advocate of truth and good governance".
Also speaking, Comr. Wisdom Meddon, said the youths have been taking parts in politics but expressed bitterness that their impacts have not been felt hence the agitation.
While responding to questions bothering on the youths as praise singers, Comr. Meddon affirmed that about eighty percent of the youths are praise singers to their political leaders but the narratives must change.
Meddon added that voting was a choice even as he said that any Ika politician who was credible would be the project of IYA.
