OKOWA NOMINATES DESIEC CHAIRMAN

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa today, wrote to the State House of Assembly asking it to confirm the nomination of Chief Mike Ogbodu as chairman of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC),

Flagnews Nigeria gathered that Ogbodu is a relation to former governor James Ibori and hails from Oghara in Ethiope West Council Area of the state.

The governor also nominated six others including the brother to the member representing Warri North Constituency, Hon. Michael Diden also known as Ejele, who is the governor's eye in the DTHA, Mr. Light Oritseweyinmi Diden as commissioners.

Others the governor is seeking the house to confirm as commissioners into DSIEC are; Mr. Fredrick Oduje Ulakpa, Mr. Friday Edmund Siemode, Mr. James Eruorhevwameme Umukoro, Mr. Gregory Chukwuma Edeme and Mrs. Yvonne Ovuevuo Wagbatsoma.

Okowa read, “In exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 198 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended, I wish to submit hereunder, the list of nominees for appointment as members of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC).”

The governor urged the lawmakers to give the letter speedy consideration.

“I will greatly appreciate if early actions are taken, as usual, to place the names of the nominees before the Honourable House for consideration and confirmation to enable me effect their appointments as required by the constitution”.
