POLITICS: OKOWA'S AIDE TASKS POLITICAL APPOINTEES ON DILIGENCE.

Political appointees in Delta state  have been charged to be diligent in their respective tasks.
 The call was made by the Special Assistant to the Delta state governor on Youth Development, Comrade Dele Akpatashi, at a meeting with the Ward liaison officers appointed by the state government, in Agbor, Ika south Local government area.

 Akpatashi stated that the Ward liaison officers were expected to play a watchdog role in the Okowa administration by drawing the attention of the state government to the happenings around their areas through periodic reports.
 He disclosed that the duties of the Ward liaison officers included the supervision of government projects, drawing the attention of government to the areas that need government's attention, propagation of government policies and programs as well as defending the government when the need arises.
 Akpatashi who is also the Ika south Coordinator of the Ward Liaison officers, described governor Okowa as a grass root politician, who do not tolerate any lackadaisical attitude with his appointees adding that the governor took the appointment of the Ward liaison officers seriously.
 The governor's special assistant, informed the Ward liaison officers that they were the eyes and ears of the Governor in their respective Wards stressing that they would be elevated based on their performances.
 Speaking on behalf of the Ward liaison Officers, Mr. Nwokenye Efan, commended governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his assistant, for his giant strides and promised to be diligent in order to justify the confidence reposed in them.



 The meeting also attracted the Executive Assistant to the governor on political matters and delta north coordinator of the Ward liaison officers,  Dr. Emmanuel Mafiana and also the Special Assistant to the governor on special duties, Mr. Cosmos Igbenije.
 In their separate remarks, they  stated that there was need for the screening and accreditation of the Ward liaison officers to ensure that there were no lapses.
 They also enjoined the Ward Liaison officers to take their duties seriously and attend Ward meetings regularly stressing that it was an offence for the appointees to be absent from Ward meetings, even as they applauded the Ward liaison officers for their cooperation so far.
Highlight of the meeting was a vote of confidence passed on governor Ifeanyi Okowa by the Ward Liaison Officers and also the Accreditation of the Ward liaison officers by the Executive Assistant to the governor on polical matters.
