DELTA LAWMAKERS THREATEN TO IMPEACH OKOWA.
There are strong indications that members of the Delta state House of Assembly are on the move to impeach the state governor Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa over his inability to pay their November salaries and Christmas bonus of both members of the Delta state House of Assembly and political appointees.
According to our source, the lawmakers met with the governor during the week and they demanded for thier Christmas bonus to enable them meet up with thier Christmas obligation to members of their constituencies.
Report reaching us also has it that members from Delta South instigated the showdown when Okowa told them that there was no Money in the state and that he might not be able to meet up with their demands.
Our source who pleaded anonimity said the members expressed thier disappointment in the manner Okowa misused state funds while complaining that the House had never had it so bad since the creation of Delta state. They however promised to make the state ungovernable and threatened to impeach the governor if he fails to Meet up with thier demands.
Similarly, some of the Special Advisers who spoke to our source, still under conditions of anononimity were also very angry saying that governor Okowa would never come back in 2019. " Okowa is heartless , his predecessors used to pay salaries before 26th of every month. When Okowa became governor, he complained that things are no more as they used to be. Now things are getting better but Okowa has refused to change for good. Today is 7th of December yet no salary has been paid and he is using the Delta state money for the upcoming PDP convention ".
