DELTA NUJ RELEASES ACTIVITIES MARKING 2017 PRESS WEEK

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Delta State Council will tomorrow, thursday 7 December, 2017, begin activities marking the Year 2017 Press Week Celebration.

 The state chairman of the union comrade Michael Ikeogwu, together with other executive members of the state council, stated this at a  press briefing today in Asaba.

According to Ikeogwu, the 2017 Press Week would begin with a Sensitisation campaign to Media Houses in the state by 9A.M, while on Friday 8th December, would be for the Visitation of the sick members of the union by 9A.M.

Monday December 11th, he said there would  be a Novelty Football match between the NUJ and the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN)  at Squash club by 4pm.

 Ikeogwu further disclosed that the opening ceremony for the grandfinale would hold on tuesday 12th December, at the Labour House, by 10.00am. He remarked that the state governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa would be the Special guest of honour and declare the ceremony open, to be followed by keynote address and lecture on "The Role Of The Press In Managing The Lessons Of Recession For A Wealthier Delta State"  to be delivered by a renowned human right activist,  Dr.  (Mrs.) Joe okei-odumakin.

Comrade Ikeogwu added that a former commissioner for information Barr. Chike Ogeah, will be the chairman on the ocassion while the deputy governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro would be the guest of honour.
 The Speaker of the Delta state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and the Secretary to the state government Hon. Ovie Agas, would be the special guests, among others.

 The NUJ boss said the grandfinale would culminate in a Gala Nite/Award and investiture of patrons at the same venue by 7PM.

He urged members of the union to take the union's activities seriously and attend all the activities towards ensuring a successful press week.
