DELTA LG POLLS: CP RESTRICTS VEHICULAR MOVEMENT




In view of the forthcoming Local Government Council elections billed to take place in Delta State on Saturday, 6th January, 2018, the outgoing Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Zanna M. Ibrahim, psc has ordered the restriction of vehicular movements in Delta State from 6am -3pm on the Election Day. The CP who gave the order, Tuesday, 2nd January, 2018, noted that only those on official and emergency duties with valid means of identification as well as the electorates with permanent voters’ cards, going to their registered polling units to cast their votes, will be allowed passage during the restriction order.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, the CP noted that the restriction order was a security measure tailored towards checkmating movement of probable mischief makers and political thugs, the CP warned that any person or group of persons that foment trouble during the exercise will be arrested and prosecuted in line with the provisions of the law.

The CP therefore, advised politicians and their supporters to adhere strictly to the electoral provisions and avoid any conduct that is capable of causing break down of law and order before, during and after the elections.

        While regretting the inconvenience the restriction order will cause commuters passing Delta State to other states, the CP enjoined them to take alternative routes or make do with other contingency plans.

Resumption Date For Primary And Secondary Schools In Delta State

  It is hereby announced for the information of the General Public, particularly Deltans that the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has fixed Sunday, September 10, 2017, as the resumption date for pupils and students in public and private Primary and Secondary schools in the State for the 2017/2018 Academic Section. Academic activities begin on Monday September 11, 2017. Accordingly, the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has by this announcement advised parents and guardians to ensure that pupils and students return to school on the said date. It is stressed that students in boarding schools must return to school on Sunday September 10, 2017 as normal class activities will commence the next day. RIP KIDNAPPED DPO. HE FOUGHT FOR SECURITY OF LIVES AND PROPERTIES OF NIGERIANS. A CREDIT TO HUMANITY

ASABA THE Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of the ‘C’ Division, Asaba, SP Valentine Mbalu has been reportedly killed by his abductors 12 days after he was taken hostage by suspected Fulani herdsmen between Ekwoma and Umunede along the Benin/Asaba/Onitsha expressway. Recall that the unsuspecting Police Officer was abducted at about 4pm on the 5th of this month on his way to Asaba after spending weekend with his family at Agbor. A reliable source who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the decomposing corpse of the DPO was found in Umunede bush yesterday. He disclosed that one of the suspected kidnappers, a native of Fulani who sells water Mellon at Abraka within the Asaba metropolis has been arrested. It would be recalled that the decomposing body of the king of Ubulu-Uku, HRM Edward Akaeze Ofulue III who was kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen sometimes in January 2016 was also found in Umunede bush days after his abduction.
