By Victor Efeizomor.

Come the 10th of March 2018, His Royal Majesty,   Obi (Dr.) Emmanuel O. Efeizomor 11, the Obi of Owa Kingdom, will be 80 years old.

Turning 80, no doubt, is something to be   celebrated. This prompted, the Obi- in–council  a fortnight  ago, in Owa Royal Palace, to inaugurate a 10 man   planning committee, Chaired by Chief Nkenchor Okwuokenye, the Inneh of Owa land  while   Barrister Raymond  Isitor is the secretary.

In a Statement signed by the Chairman,  Planning Committee, Chief Inneh, said activities to commemorate the 80 years anniversary celebration of His Royal Majesty,   Obi (Dr.) Emmanuel O. Efeizomor 11, the Obi of Owa Kingdom, has reached advance stage.

Chief Inneh however stated that the date of the anniversary slated for March 10, 2018 has been shifted to May 12, 2018.

He said , “ in view of the need to ensure full participation of Owa  people  and to organize a proper and befitting ceremony , the  Obi- in-  council , in conjunction with the planning committee, decided to shift the original birthday date by two months , from the 10th of March to 12th of May 2018.”

He said the development became   imperative, as the  need to expand the scope of the celebration to accommodate   other unique propositions turned out to be most necessary.

He said the strategic status of the celebrant in the state as the Chairman, Delta State Counsel of Traditional Rulers, and the Obi’s fatherly role in the  sociopolitical and economic development  of Ika Nation and Delta State in general  was very instructive of the need to give him a befitting ceremony.

Chief Inneh who used the occasion to highlight some of  the activities lined up for the one- week  celebration, said the anniversary will  kick start  Wednesday , 9th May 2018  with   the  paying of homage by Owa Chiefs , friends ,  sons and daughters of Owa land. Homage paying by various communities within and outside Owa kingdom is slated for Thursday 10th May. Friday 11th, May,  will be for lectures. Saturday the 12th of May will be book launch  and birthday celebration  while Sunday 13th May is slated for thanksgiving services.
