Okowa Swears In Ebonka, Okoh, Others, as Council Chairmen

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, yesterday, swore in 23 local Government Council chairmen at Asaba.
Amongst whom were the chairmen of the Ika North East and Ika South Local Government Areas, Barristers Victor Ebonka and Victor Okoh.
Others were Hon. Isaac Anwuzia for Aniocha South, Hon. Williams Angadi; Bomadi, Hon. Godknows Agele, Burutu; , Hon. Solomon Golley, Ethiope West: Hon. Egbabor Emmanuel, Isoko North: :Hon. Ikpokpo Itiako, Isoko South, Hon. Governor Ameche, Ndokwa East: Hon. Osakwe Ifeanyichukwu, Ndokwa West: Hon. Julius Scott Jessa, Okpe: and Hon. Osadebe Uchechukwu Peace, Oshimili South.

Addressing the people, Okowa congratulated the Chairmen for their victory at the polls adding that the victory was as a result of the vigorous campaign done by the party before the election as well as the infrastructural development put in place by the present administration across the State.
Okowa urged the new Council chairmen to give attention to their people by residing within their Local Government Areas, stressing that as representatives of the people at the grassroots, they cannot represent the people from the diaspora. According to the governor, a Council chairman is a chairman for all. He also enjoined them to give priority attention to Primary Health care, Environmental Sanitation and the Empowerment of youths, women and the less-privileged persons in the society, while charging them to shun corruption and remain focused on solving the problems in their council areas by ensuring judicious use of council’s resources, adding that they should imbibe the spirit of diligence, transparency, prudence management and accountability, especially in the face of the current economic recession.
Governor Okowa stated that the issue of payment of salaries of local government workers would soon be a thing of the past. He disclosed that his administration had been assisting the councils financially and promised that the State Government would continue to assist the Local Governments with a view to offsetting their salary backlogs, even as he urged them to carry every segment of the society along in the discharge of their duties.
Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated Chairmen, the Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, Hon. Chuks Oseme expressed their appreciation to all for the mandidate while promising to discharge their duties diligently and attract dividends of democracy to their people in order to justify the confidence reposed in them. The Council chairmen also promised to work in line with the smart agenda of the Okowa administration.
Dignitaries present at the occasion included the deputy governor of Delta state, Otuaro, the former governor of Delta state, Uduaghan, the PDP hierarchies in Delta state, Federal and state lawmakers, past and serving commissioners, other party faithful, friends and well wishers of the new chairmen, among others.
