By Andy Adaigbe
The Rotary club of Agbor, has today installed a new president. She is Rtn. Cynthia Mary Otuare.
Speaking with Journalists, the outgoing President Dr. Joseph Ugboh who handed over to Otuare, described her as a lady with the capacity to serve. Dr. Ugboh said he had no doubt that Rotarian Otuare would deliver on her mandate. He urged her to build on the already existing achievements of his administration and take the club to greater height.
In her speech, Rtn Otuare expressed joy for being the president of the club disclosing how she joined the Rotary family.
" I feel privileged to stand before you to express my profound joy as I am installed today as the 33rd president of the Rotary club of Agbor. I joined Rotary not really understanding why I had to. To me I needed a place to go and kill boredom but at each passing time, I realized that I was wrong. Rotary avails anyone who wants to serve humanity, the best way to achieve it and be at peace with God".
Rtn. Otuare remarked that the Rotary International had six areas of focus which she listed to include Water, Sanitation, Maternal and child health, peace and conflict resolution, disease prevention, basic literacy and Education. She also noted that the core values included fellowship, integrity, diversity, service and leadership.
She added that through the Rotary club, the world of polio disease which had crippled many children, was gradually fading away with the relentless activities of oral polio immunization.
Rtn. Otuare further enjoined all to be a part of the Rotary family stressing that Rotarians were givers who strived to put smiles on the faces of mankind in order to make the world a better place.
Highlight of the ceremony was the investiture of the new president Rtn Cynthia Otuare and Award presentation to deserving members of the public for their selfless services to humanity.
The occasion also attracted Rotarians and other dignitaries from within and outside the state including the District governor elect, Rtn. Oladokun Adeyemi, Past Assistant Governors (PAGs), among others.
