Hunger in Delta as Okowa deletes 1, 021 workers from Agbor College and Ogwashi Uku Poly

Image
By Owen Akenzua ASABA The Delta State Civil Service has deleted 1, 021 workers from the government’s payroll following a directive by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to weed them out. This was, however, described in some quarters as alleged attempts to retrench workers in the state. But Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters, Mike Okeme, confirmed that the state government’s decision to delete 1, 021 workers’ names from its payroll was informed by their alleged negligence to duty and failure to go to work without official permission. Noting that the state government could not continue to pay ghost workers, including the nonchalant ones, Okeme disclosed that the decision to delete names of workers from the payroll was not a plot to retrench workers even on the face of over bloated state workforce. Our corresponde learnt that the state currently has over 60, 000 workers in its payroll, a situation Okeme described as sordid and unacceptable considering the economic recession. Expectedly...

Bayoko said that those who have been receiving salaries after absconding or abandoning their duty posts would be reported to the police and be made to face the full wrath of the law. He maintained that for the nine staff who were irregular in attendance at work, appropriate disciplinary action would be taken against them, according to relevant extant regulations Governor Ifeanyi Okowa recently directed that the na...

IPOB: NIGERIAN ARMY DID NOT ATTACK NOR KILL ANYONE

Image
The attention of 14 Brigade Nigerian Army, has been drawn to fictitious news going round especially on the social media that troops have invaded the home of Nnamdi Kanu and killed 3 persons. This is far from the truth. Rather, it was a group of suspected IPOB militants that blocked the road against troops of 145 Battalion while on show of force along FMC-Word Bank Road in Umuahia town, Abia State at about 6.00-6.30pm, today. They insisted that the military vehicles would not pass and started pelting the soldiers with stones and broken bottles to the point of injuring an innocent female passerby and a soldier, Corporal Kolawole Mathew. The troops fired warning shots in the air and the hoodlooms dispersed. No life was lost. Therefore the public are kindly enjoined to disregard the rumours going round and the fictitious photographs of purported victims of attack. Both the soldier and the innocent female passerby have been evacuated to the unit's Medical Inspection Room and are re...

THE LATEST WAY BANKS ARE ROBBING US

Image
I tried to make withdrawals via Sterling Bank ATM machine, I punched in 20k. The machine refused to pay me. I was very sure I had far far more than that amount in my account, so it could never be an issue of insufficient fund. I tried the second machine, same thing. A guy came and he asked if the machines were dispensing, I said I can't withdraw ooo. He slotted his card and he withdrew. I had to call the attention of the security guy who told me that I can't withdraw more than N10k at once. So, despite the fact that we have options of up to 40k withdrawal on the machine, I was forced to withdraw 10k four times. And I was charged N65 for each withdrawal. It didn't dawn on me that this people had just cheated me and I never thought of it until I got to another ATM of another bank and the same thing happened. If that cheating scheme is done on 2000 customers that withdrew 40k today That is N260 x 2000 = N520, 000 x 30 days = N15.6m Can you imagine that? Can these banks explain...
